Genesee Country Village & Museum offers a unique setting for your daytime or overnight adventure. Choose from our historic village, nature center or John L. Wehle Gallery for a hands-on history, nature or art experience.
Programs are filled on a first-come, first-reserved basis, so please make your reservations early. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to hold your reservation. No refunds will be given unless your program is canceled by GCV&M.
All participants check-in at the Genesee Country Nature Center building to start their program.
Visit the Genesee Country Village & Museum during our regular season (mid-May through mid-October) with your group of 20 or more Scouts (youth and adults) to receive a special group rate. A reservation must be made before the date of your visit with the museum’s Program Registrar. Please call (585)-294-8218 for more information or to make a reservation.
Fee: $6/Scout, $10.50/adult (minimum of 20 participants)
Available: Mid-May through Mid-October
Enjoy a naturalist-led seasonal walk along the nature center’s woodland trails. Walks may be either general, or cover specific journey topics at the group’s request. Maximum group size of 25 (Scouts and adults).
Fee: $7/Scout, $5/adult (minimum fee $80)
Available: January, February, April, May, June, September, October and November (1.5-hour program)
This naturalist-led program includes an evening walk on the nature center’s trails to experience nature at night. Campfire program included. (Campfire snacks are the group leader’s responsibility). Maximum group size of 25 (scouts and adults).
Fee: $9/Scout, $5/adult (minimum fee $100)
Available: Select weekends in January, February, April, May, June, September, October and November (2.5-hour program)
Overnights for All Levels
Overnight program includes choice of guided night hike on nature center trails or through historic village, campfire, evening snacks and a continental breakfast. Minimum 10 Scouts; maximum 25 Scouts. One adult required for every five Scouts.
Fee: $30/Scout; $10/adult (minimum fee $450)
Available: Select weekends in April, May, June, September and October.
Spend the night at the museum’s Civil War gas balloon encampment. Meet professor Thaddeus Lowe and learn how his marvelous balloons get off the ground. Experience a hydrogen gas demonstration, participate in a military drill, enjoy a campfire and take an evening lantern lit walk through the historic village. Participants will sleep in Civil War era tents. Evening snack and a continental breakfast provided. We strongly encourage small groups to invite another group to share in your overnight experience to make it cost effective. Maximum group size of 40 (scouts and adults).
Fee: $35/Scout; $15/adult (minimum fee $500)

Earn two badges during this evening program. Take an early evening hike at the Genesee Country Nature Center to learn to identify trees and listen for nocturnal animals. Gather around a campfire for additional badge work, enjoy a snack and then spend the night inside the nature center. Continental breakfast included.
Fee: $35/Scout, $15/adult (minimum fee $500)
Available: April, May, June, September, October, November
Hike the nature center trails and learn how to identify the plants and trees found there. Learn about causes and prevention of forest fires, and discover uses for many of our woodland plants.
Explore the nature center trails as you learn about endangered species, migration and how to identify poisonous plants and venomous animals in our area.
Identify rocks and minerals and their uses. Learn about glaciers that formed the unique landscape of our area and discover fossils of animals that lived before the dinosaurs! (Sorry, fossil and rock collecting not permitted.)
Explore the world of 19th-century engineering as you tour the historic village. After your tour, construct a working electrical circuit, make a model bridge, and draw a floor plan of your favorite house.
The fees listed for the aforementioned programs do not include admission to the historic village or art gallery. If you wish to spend time in the village before or after your paid scouting program we will be pleased to offer all participants in your group our Group Rate for Scouts. The price is $10.50/adults and $6/youth.
