Civil War Candlelight Tour 2010
Friday & Saturday, May 21 & 22
6-9 p.m.
View the Civil War through the eyes of ordinary soldiers risking life and limb for causes they believed in. This informal, self-guided program offers the opportunity to engage Civil War-era reenactors in conversations about a variety of military and home front subjects.
Walk through a Confederate campsite, witness Federal troops in a platoon drill, speak with refugees on their journey north, take a lesson in small arms, and learn about ladies’ fashion in the 1860s.
A dozen Civil War-era settings will be presented in select historical buildings as visitors stroll along the village streets after hours. Take a candle lantern and spend the evening traveling through one of the most difficult time periods in America’s history.
Event will commence rain or shine; dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. Arrival times are booked in 30-minute intervals beginning at 6 p.m. Length of tour is approximately 75 minutes, but may vary due to the casual structure of the program.
Reservations are required, and tickets are non-refundable. Pricing is $12/person and $10/members.
