Trick or Treating in the Village

Saturday & Sunday, October 29 & 30
Noon to 5pm

 
What better way to trick or treat than to beg for candy in the safe and comfortable atmosphere at the Genesee Country Village? Enjoy an autumn afternoon strolling the streets of the historic village and visiting with townsfolk in modern costumes! A dozen homes will be available on this fun-filled October weekend so don your Halloween costume and join in the fun! 
 
Other festive holiday activities include:
  • Hay bale maze – kid-sized! – on the Great Meadow
  • Bounce house
  • Pumpkin painting ($3)
  • Divination games—including spearing for apples
  • Ghost and cornhusk doll crafts ($1)
  • Spooky stories
  • The animated film The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
  • Gus the Ghost scavenger hunt
  • Marshmallow roast
  • Discover the history of Halloween traditions and the origin of the jack o’lantern.
  • Visit the Town Hall – filled with “wonders” that will amaze you –  All in good fun, of course…
Approximately a dozen of the village’s historic buildings will be open for trick-or-treating. Small bags will be provided for each trick-or-treater at admissions. Note: this program is designed for small children (ages 8 and under). Of course children of all ages are welcome!

Meet author Michael T. Keene for a booksigning from 2-5:30 p.m. in the Flint Hill Store!  Keene is the author of Folklore and Legends of Rochester: The Mystery of Hoodoo Corner and Other Tales.  The unusual history of the Rochester region has given rise to strange legends and shrouded the city in mystery. 

From stories of McCurdy's Department store being cursed, to the the Fox sister's mysterious "ability" to communicate with the other side, this book is a good read for anyone interested in history and stories of the bizarre.  Book available on line and in the Flint Hill Store for $19.95 plus tax. 

The museum’s restaurant will be open with a light menu and beverages for sale.
 
$5 admission fee for youth (16 and under).  Adults are FREE.
