Winter Adult Nature Experiences
Cabin Fever Reliever Walk
Bundle up for a journey into a magical world--- the winter woods at Genesee Country Village & Museum! Join GCV&M Naturalist, Ron Walker, for a series of winter nature walks that will be sure to chase away the winter blues. Who knows what we will find along our journey. Will it be winter birds, animal tracks or other signs of local wildlife?
Sunday, February 26 at 2:00 p.m.
Winter Family Nature Experiences
All of the following tours are designed for children, but are fun for all ages.
If it is too cold to be outside, don't just stay home! We will have indoor nature activities and hot chocolate available!
Why stay cooped up at home when you and your family could be at the Nature Center?
"The Mitten" by Jan Brett StoryWalk™
On this winter StoryWalk™ you and your family will explore the trails of the GCV&M Nature Center while reading the classic storybook "The Mitten" by Jan Brett. Independent tours will be available February - March on Saturday and Sunday, after checking in at the Nature Center. If you would like an extra special StoryWalk™, join our naturalist for a guided version Sundays at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Sunday, February 26
Join us for a fun day learning about and playing with snow. Listen to a story, make a snowman, and, if there is snow on the ground, bring your sled for races down the hill in the Great Meadow. Even if there isn’t snow, we will still be having fun creating a "snow-less snowman," and other snow related crafts and games. Meet at the Nature Center between 12:00 and 1:00 p.m. to listen to a story and learn about snow! Snowman building will begin at 1:00 p.m. and sled races at 2:00 p.m.
Mammals in March
Sunday, March 5 and 12
Humans deal with winter differently than other mammals do. Join one of our naturalists for a guided nature walk and learn about the many ways local mammals survive the long winter. Bundle up and look for signs of life on the trail, like tracks and scat. Then, warm up inside and explore our collection of animal furs and tracks. This hands on experience is fun for all ages! Check in at the Nature Center at 1:00 p.m.
