19th-Century Brewing Workshop

Saturday, August 30 | 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. (SOLD OUT)

A craft that has thrived in both bustling commercial breweries and cozy home settings

The 1800s was a vibrant era, a thrilling transition where the “arts and mysteries” of everyday culture began their evolution into the science of industrialism. In this engaging workshop, you’ll roll up your sleeves and actively participate in the recreated 1803 brewery of Walter Grieves, crafting a batch of beer on a commercial scale. But that’s not all! In teams of two, you’ll harness modern equipment alongside an authentic historical recipe to create your very own small, home-scale brew. Each participant will leave with a growler-sized jug of “wort” to ferment at home, enabling you to continue the brewing tradition. As the workshop draws to a close, you’ll gather in the comfort of your home to savor the rewards of your hard work by tasting something truly remarkable — a brew that echoes through the ages. Join us for this unique journey, where history and flavor blend seamlessly, leaving you with cherished memories and a delicious taste of the past.
