A note to families: strollers are a great way to bring kids around the Historic Village! Strollers cannot, however, go inside of historic homes.
Experience a new "History at the Hearth" Cooking Program
On both Saturday, September 21, and Sunday, September 22, visit the Livingston-Backus House Kitchen to see a preview of a new program with guest educators Cheyney McKnight and Tonia Galban that explores the intersection between traditional Indigenous and Black recipes!
Enjoy a bite to eat or a historical craft beverage
Find ample opportunities to enjoy a delicious lunch at GCV&M! Visit the Depot Restaurant (open 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.) for a hot meal or grab-and-go fare. You can also find our historical craft beers available for sale here!
Don’t forget – outdoor dining is welcome at GCV&M! Feel free to bring a picnic basket and blanket and enjoy lunch on our beautiful grounds. (No alcohol can be brought on site, please!)

Join guest speaker Dennis Carr from Mount Hope Cemetery for a talk: “The Rural Cemetery Movement: A History of… Everything! in 19th-Century America.”
This talk will take place in the John L. Wehle Gallery lobby and is included with your discounted admission!

Yes! Parking is free and plentiful! Park in any of the main lots at the front of the Museum. Please leave the first two bays available for handicapped parking.
Please have your ticket(s) either printed out OR pulled up on your phone screen and ready for scanning for quick and easy check-in. Pro-tip: take a screenshot of each of your tickets to have ready and pulled up on your phone screen! Please note: Wifi can sometimes be spotty at the front of the Museum.
Yes, absolutely! We encourage you to bring a picnic lunch for your group (please no outside alcohol or glass containers).
Yes! This event is rain or shine. The Museum will only cancel in case of a severe weather emergency.
Please dress accordingly for the predicted weather conditions.
We recommend wearing a good pair of walking shoes – there is a lot to see and do, and surfaces in the Historic Village (brick paths, cobblestone, grass), can be uneven.
Yes! Leashed service animals are welcome with proper identification.
Guest transport will only be available for emergencies during this event. Please be prepared to walk our campus.
No, we do not have wheelchairs or scooters for rent.
Yes! The Depot Restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. (grill closes at 2). Grab a tasty bite or hot or cold drink!
