Can you imagine a better combo?

Learn how to roast your own coffee and fry your own doughnuts the 19th century way! Using historical techniques and ingredients (including lard for frying), guests will get to make and eat their own brunch-time treats in the 1850s Jones Farm kitchen. Recipes include Burlington Love Knots and Fried Cakes.

Recommended Age: 16 and up (anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a paid adult)

FAQs

Does this workshop require a lot of standing?

Yes, you will be standing for the majority of this workshop. 

Is there ample parking?

Yes! Park in any of the main lots at the front of the Museum (please leave the first two bays open for handicap parking).

Where do I check in?

Check-in will be in the Meeting Center Lounge, to the immediate right of the Admissions tunnel when facing the front of the Museum. 

How do I show my purchased tickets?

We will be checking you in by name. However, we also recommend either printing our OR taking a screenshot of your invoice or ticket(s) as backup. 

What if I am unable to walk long distances?

Walking is required to get from Admissions to the workshop site and back. However, if you have mobility difficulties, please notify our staff, and our Security team will transport you to and from the workshop site in their vehicle. 

Is this event rain or shine?

Yes! The Museum will only cancel if there is a travel ban in Monroe County. 

Do I need to bring anything with me?

No, all materials needed to make this class successful will be provided to you! 

What else will be open?

Genesee Country Village & Museum will be open with a handful of staffed buildings around the Village Square from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., plus, explore the John L. Wehle Art Gallery from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.! 

A limited food menu will be offered in the Meeting Center Lounge. 

Can I bring my dog?

Leashed service animals are welcome with proper identification. 

How should I dress?

This class will mostly be held indoors, but outdoor walking is required to get from Admissions to the workshop site and back. Dress for the predicted weather conditions, and wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. 

If you plan to visit the Historic Village after the workshop, wear comfortable shoes for walking and be prepared for predicted weather conditions.  

What if I need a refund for my ticket?

Tickets may be refunded only up to 7 days prior to the event date and are strictly non-transferable by date, entry time, or program.
