Dyeing Yarn Workshop

Saturday, August 22, 2026 | 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Unravel a new skill!

During the early days of European Settlement in the Genesee Valley, newcomers found themselves in a landscape devoid of manufactured goods. Necessity became the mother of invention as these settlers turned to home industries to fulfill their material needs. Among the vibrant traditions that emerged was the art of dyeing yarn and fabric, a captivating activity embraced by many households. Using natural dyes sourced from the abundant flora around them, they created beautiful, rich colors.

Join us for an enchanting workshop where you will delve into the fascinating world of dyes and mordents. Experience the joy of transforming spun wool into a colorful masterpiece, and connect with a time when creativity and resourcefulness flourished!

Participants will take home a skein of dyed yarn and skills to last a lifetime.

Space is limited!

Location: Hetchler House
