Fall family fun at GCV&M

November is truly a beautiful time of year to experience our Historic Village. Visit this weekend to enjoy peak fall colors in the Historic Village (plus approximately 10 buildings open and staffed), exhibits  in the John L. Wehle Gallery, 5+ miles of trails for fall hikes, food and drink in the Meeting Center Fireside Lounge (open 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.), shopping in the Flint Hill Store, and more.  

Friday, November 1

Open 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. + After Hours

  • See peak fall foliage around the Historic Village
  • Explore historical buildings like Hosmer’s Inn, an Octagon House, the Altay General Store, the One-Room Schoolhouse, and more
  • Warm up up with a bite to eat and drink in the Meeting Center Fireside Lounge from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. (offering soups, sandwiches, wraps, salads, craft beverages, and more! 
  • Special Event: Meeting Center Doors open at 5 p.m. and showtimes are at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. for A Night with Edgar Allan Poe and Gertrude Atherton (click here to learn more and purchase tickets)

Saturday, November 2

Open 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

  • 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Springerle Baking Workshop (tickets must be purchased online in advance here)
  • Meet our sheep and feathered friends down at the Hetchler Barn, and visit Hetchler House to see how early re-settlers in the region would have been preparing for the cold month ahead
  • 1 – 2 p.m.: The Lost Art of Sentimental Hairwork (talk) with guest speaker Susan Doran in the Gallery Lobby (included with general Museum admission)
  • Warm up up with a bite to eat and drink in the Meeting Center Fireside Lounge from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. (offering soups, sandwiches, wraps, salads, craft beverages, and more)
  • 2 – 5 p.m.: Springerle Baking Workshop (tickets must be purchased online in advance here)

Sunday, November 3

Open 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. - Kiln Firing Day!

  • Visit the Potter’s Shop to watch as our Potters fire their summer’s work in the woodfired kiln – even lend a hand
  • Head upstairs in Town Hall to explore an exhibit on 19th-century stoneware in the Genesee Valley and Greater Rochester Area
  • Warm up up with a bite to eat and drink in the Meeting Center Fireside Lounge from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. (offering soups, sandwiches, wraps, salads, craft beverages, and more)
  • SALE today in the Flint Hill Store! Shop village-made pottery and enjoy 10% off all pottery – in store only!

Museum Members: FREE 

Adults / Seniors (62+): $12

Youth (12 and under): $10

Kids 3 and under: FREE 

(Purchase tickets online in advance to save! There will be a small additional fee applied to tickets purchased at the door.) 

FAQs

Is there ample parking?

Parking is free and plentiful! Park in any of the main lots at the front of the Museum. Please leave the first two bays available for handicapped parking. 

Where do I check in?

Check-in will be at the front of the Museum. You can also purchase tickets for this event in the Admissions tunnel. 

How do I show my purchased tickets?

Please have your ticket(s) either printed out OR pulled up on your phone screen and ready for scanning for quick and easy check-in. Pro-tip: take a screenshot of each of your tickets to have ready and pulled up on your phone screen! Please note: Wifi can sometimes be spotty at the front of the Museum. 

Is this event rain or shine?

Yes – this event is rain or shine! Please dress accordingly for the predicted weather conditions. We will cancel only in the case of thunderstorms or severe weather.

How should I dress?

Please dress accordingly for the predicted weather conditions.  

We recommend wearing a good pair of walking shoes – there is a lot to see and do, and surfaces in the Historic Village (brick paths, cobblestone, grass), can be uneven. 

What if I need a refund for my ticket?

We’re sorry to hear that you’re not able to attend! Tickets may be refunded only up to 7 days prior to the event date and are strictly non-transferable by date, entry time, or program. 

Where can I get food and drink?

The Depot Restaurant will be offering a limited menu from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.! Please note that grill items will NOT be available.
