Herb Lore, History, and Uses Workshop

Gain a timeless, age-old skill

Participants will learn how to identify various herbs, which parts of the plants to use, and the best timing for harvesting. Additionally, they will be taught how to dry herbs for long-lasting use. Participants will also explore ideal growing conditions for herbs, techniques for deadheading, seed collection, and plant division. Everyone will have the opportunity to collect fresh herbs to dry and take home!

Museum Members: $60

FAQs

Is there ample parking?

Yes! Park in any of the main lots at the front of the Museum. Please leave the first two bays available for handicap parking. 

Where do I check in?

You can check-in through the Admissions tunnel and receive your hang tag. A member of the Interpretation staff will greet participants just outside of Admissions, then guide the entire group back to the workshop site. 

How do I show my purchased tickets?

You will be checked in by name for this workshop. However, we recommend either printing out OR taking a screenshot of your ticket(s) or invoice as backup. 

Is this event rain or shine?

Yes – this event is rain or shine! Please dress accordingly for the predicted weather conditions. We will cancel only in the case of thunderstorms or severe weather.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

No! Everything will be provided to you to make this class successful. 

What else will be open?

The Historic Village, Nature Center, and Flint Hill Gift Shop will all be open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.! 

The Depot Restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. (grill closes at 3). 

Can I bring my dog?

Leashed service animals are welcome with proper identification. 

How should I dress?

While this class is mostly indoors, some outdoor time and walking are required. Dress accordingly for the predicted weather conditions and wear comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes that you can walk and work in. 

What if I need a refund for my ticket?

Tickets may be refunded only up to 7 days prior to the event date and are strictly non-transferable by date, entry time, or program.
