Join us for a unique experience at GCV&M this season – After-Hours Adventures! We’re inviting guests behind the scenes to explore rarely-seen buildings in the Historic Village, or get up close and personal with collections in the John L. Wehle Gallery. Choose one of three exciting After-Hours experiences, enjoy a bite to eat in the Depot Restaurant, have a drink in the Freight House Pub, and enjoy the sight of the sun setting over Genesee Country Village & Museum.

Adventure 1: Guided Historic Village Tours
Our popular Upstairs/Downstairs tours are back! Museum experts provide special access to upstairs, downstairs, and behind barriers, providing guests with an experience above and beyond the day-to-day offerings within the Historic Village. These exclusive tours will emphasize room use and will illuminate the daily experiences of our buildings’ former inhabitants.
Upstairs/Downstairs Tours on June 23 and 24, will launch at 5:30, 5:45, 6, 6:15, and 6:30 p.m., each with 20 guests per-tour group.

Adventure 2: Gallery and Collections Tours
“Treasures from the Archive” on Friday, June 23, 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.: Join Collections Manager Amanda Wilck for behind-the-scenes look at gems within the collections at GCV&M. Secret diaries, private correspondences, and a dive into what imaging these documents can reveal. This talk features up-close views of 19th-century paper ephemera – items that are usually lost in time. Feast your eyes on these collection gems during your curated evening tours at GCV&M!
“A World in Technicolor” on Saturday, June 24, at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.: Everyone in the past wore dull clothing in boring colors…right? Wrong! This curator-led talk will explore all the colorful dress that 19th-century Americans wore. De-mystify your understanding of the history of dying alongside intensely bright clothing for men, women, and children. Enjoy up-close views of extant garments and accessories in this opulent talk from curator Brandon W. Brooks.

When you join us for After-Hours Adventures, plan ahead to stay a while and enjoy a meal in the Depot Restaurant or a historical craft beverage in the Freight House Pub!
Both locations will be open 5 – 9 p.m.
Please note: the cost of food and beverage is not included in admission to After-Hours Adventures.
