Calling all scouts!

Join us for an exciting new scout offering at GCV&M – our Landscape Architecture Merit Badge Class!

Join RIT professor Alissa DeWit-Paul for a unique afternoon studying the architecture of our historic gardens and walkways. Discover what goes into designing a garden – from plant choices, to people flow, to drainage plans – as you work towards earning your Landscape Architecture Merit Badge. Please note that the physical badge is not provided. This program is open to scouts ages 11-18.

Adult Chaperones are not required, but troop leaders, parents, and guardians are welcome to purchase a ticket and join in on the fun!

Is there ample parking?

Yes! Park in any of the main lots at the front of the Museum. Please leave the first two bays available for handicap parking.

Where do I check in?

You will check in through the Meeting Center Lounge, to the right of the Admissions Tunnel. Go through the white double-doors and follow the signs. 

How do I show my purchased tickets?

Please have your ticket(s) either printed out OR pulled up on your phone screen and ready for scanning for quick and easy check-in. Pro-tip: take a screenshot of each of your tickets to have ready and pulled up on your phone screen! Please note: Wifi can sometimes be spotty at the front of the Museum. 

is this event rain or shine?

Yes – this event is rain or shine! Please dress accordingly for the predicted weather conditions. We will cancel only in the case of thunderstorms or severe weather.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

You are required to bring your blue card. 

You may also bring your own snacks or water. If you are staying for both programs, we recommend you bring a bag lunch. The Depot Restaurant and Flint Hill Store will both be  open from 11 am – 3 pm, but will only have light snacks and beverages available for purchase. 

Should I bring a lunch?

If you are staying for both programs, please bring a bag lunch. The Flint Hill Gift Shop and Depot Restaurant will both be open from 11 am – 3 pm, but will have only light fare and beverages available. 

Can I bring my dog?

Leashed service animals are welcome with proper identification. 

How should I dress?

Please dress for the predicted weather conditions, as you will be walking outside. Village paths are crushed gravel and tend to be uneven; make sure to wear appropriate footwear. 

What if I need a refund for my ticket?

Tickets may be refunded only up to 7 days prior to the event date and are strictly non-transferable by date, entry time, or program.
