Join us for a mount-making class
Calling all collection managers, archivists, curators, museum professionals, and collectors! GCV&M is proud to introduce a new adult workshop, Museum Mount-Making: Headware, coming up on Saturday, April 29.
This workshop will be led by Curator of the John L. Wehle Gallery Brandon W. Brooks and Gallery Manager Darlene Braun, and will include a brief tour of the Gallery’s historic fashion and textile vaults to see our mounts in action! There will be an hour break for lunch built into the timeframe of this program. Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch.
Location: John L. Wehle Gallery
Workshop takeaways
Caring for and managing historic objects requires custom-made archival mounts, which can be prohibitively costly. This hands-on workshop will walk participants through creating museum-quality hat and headwear archival mounts that are cost-effective. Participants are encouraged to bring with them a piece of headwear for which the head mount will be custom-made. Archival, museum-quality materials for one head mount are included in the cost of the ticket. Participants will take their custom-made hat or headwear archival mount with them!
