Calling all scouts!
Scouts, come explore the science of archaeology! Discover how cultures have evolved and investigate history through the clues left by our ancestors. In this class, you will learn about the theories and methods used by professional archaeologists, experience material culture in our Historic Village, and try out various tools used in archaeological investigations.
This class is led by a certified Merit Badge Counselor and will complete all of the requirements for the Archaeology Merit Badge.

GCV&M Merit Badge classes are taught by certified Merit Badge Counselors alongside additional staff or volunteers of the Musuem.
Yes! Park in any of the main lots at the front of the Museum. Please leave the first two bays available for handicap parking.
Your instructor will meet you at the Admissions Booth at the front of the Museum. Once the entire group has arrived, the instructor will guide you to the Nature Center.
Please have your ticket(s) either printed out OR pulled up on your phone screen and ready for scanning for quick and easy check-in. Pro-tip: take a screenshot of each of your tickets to have ready and pulled up on your phone screen! Please note: Wifi can sometimes be spotty at the front of the Museum.
Yes – this event is rain or shine! Please dress accordingly for the predicted weather conditions. We will cancel only in the case of thunderstorms or severe weather.
Please bring:
- Your blue card.
- A pen or pencil and a pad or notebook.
- Appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather – you will be outdoors for at least an hour or two, rain or shine.
- You should bring your own snacks and water.
Leashed service animals are welcome with proper identification.
Please dress for the predicted weather conditions, as you will be walking outside. Village paths are crushed gravel and tend to be uneven; make sure to wear appropriate footwear.
Adult chaperones are not required for this class. However, if you would like to attend, you will need to purchase an adult ticket. Please keep it to one adult per scout.
The Historic Village, John L. Wehle Gallery, and Flint Hill Gift Shop will all be open to visitors from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.!
The Depot Restaurant will be open from 11 am – 4 pm (grill closes @ 3).
Tickets may be refunded only up to 7 days prior to the event date and are strictly non-transferable by date, entry time, or program.
