Spirits of the Past: A Walk in the Dark

Spirits of the Past: A Walk in the Dark

October 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 & 30

Get ready for a ghoulishly good time at Spirits of the Past: A Walk in the Dark!

As you depart from the Toll House with your guide, the once familiar and welcoming Historic Village becomes strange and ominous. The hour you spend traveling paths less trodden and seeing things you never will in the daylight may seem to go on forever. Groups of about 25 brave souls will depart from the Toll House every ten minutes. When purchasing your Spirits of the Past ticket, select either a “dusk” or “dark” tour – dusk tours departing at timed intervals from 6 – 7:10 p.m., and dark tours departing at timed intervals from 7:40 – 9:15 p.m.

Spirits of the Past: A Walk in the Dark runs for two weekends in 2022:

Friday, October 21, Saturday, October 22, and Sunday, October 23

Friday, October 28, Saturday, October 29, and Sunday, October 30

Frequently Asked Questions

The only real difference is the amount of darkness at the time you take The Walk. Some families with smaller children (or those that don’t really love the dark or find it hard to see at night) chose to go at dusk during the Dusk Session when it’s not quite as dark and not too late in the evening.

When you arrive at the Museum, you can visit the gift shop, have some food and drink (more on that above), or hang out at the bonfire before or after taking The Walk. The Toll House on the Great Meadow is the gateway to The Walk; we send out groups of approx. 25 every 8 to 9 minutes from there. There will be lines; but they go quickly.

We sell only approx. 600 tickets per night (about 300 per session) so that we keep lines at a minimum, don’t overcrowd The Walk, and make your experience the best it can be!

We aim to provide the best experience by trying not to overcrowd sessions; however we know that things happen and being a bit late or early is fine (especially if you plan to come early for dinner and drinks, see below)! Please be respectful to others who have purchased tickets, though. Those in the Dusk Session need to be in line by 7:10 for the final tour of that session; and 9:20 is the final tour for those in the Dark Session.

Yes! Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the Depot Restaurant and spooky "Fright" House Pub from 5 to 9 p.m. The Spirits Lounge (new this year!) will be open for wine flights (9 Crimes!) and spooktails from 5 - 9 p.m.

You may not take any food or beverage on The Walk. Smoking is only permitted in the parking lot.

Yes! Remember that we are just trying to control the number of people waiting in line and overcrowding on The Walk by separating the evening into two sessions. We absolutely want everyone to enjoy our restaurant, pub, lounge and the bonfire on the Great Meadow!

The Walk is just over one hour in length. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the predicted weather conditions.

No, please do not bring your own flashlight. The paths will be dimly lit, your tour guide will have a lantern and a basket of small flashlights for you to use should you need a little extra lighting.
