Winter Weekends at GCV&M

Saturdays & Sundays, January 10 - March 1, 2026 | 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Winter is wonderful at GCV&M!

GCV&M will be open to visitors from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. for Winter Weekends January 10 – March 1, 2026!

Visitors can enjoy our wildlife and sporting art and 19th-century clothing collection in the John L. Wehle Gallery, visiting with a naturalist in the Genesee Country Nature Center & Trails, sledding on the Great Meadow, walks in the Historic Village, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing in the wintry woods, warm beverages and snacks in the toasty Meeting Center, and more!

Tickets for Winter Weekends can be purchased at the gate (check-in at the Flint Hill Store).

Please note: Historic Village buildings will not be open or staffed and paths may be slippery.

Sledding on the Great Meadow Hill

Join us for an afternoon of sledding down the hill in the Great Meadow! Bring your own sled for races down the hill, paint the ground with snow paints, or build a nature’s friend – a snowman complete with wildlife-friendly decorations.

Please call ahead for hill conditions: (585-294-8217).

Winter Walks in the Village

Walk the streets of the Historic Village and see the houses decorated with a layer of freshly fallen snow. Have a winter photo shoot, visit our year-round farm animals, or just appreciate the tranquility and beauty of the season.

Have you ever wanted to try snowshoeing? This winter, join us at GCV&M to give it a try. When we have 6″ or more of snow, one of our team members at the Nature Center will get you fitted with a pair of snowshoes to borrow, and give you a quick lesson. Or bring your own cross-country skis with you for a truly unique skiing experience in our 19th-century Village!

Please note that there will not be any buildings opened or staffed in the Historic Village.
