Wool Spinning Workshop

Saturday January 18, 2025 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Learn 19th-century spinning methods!

Learn the basics of spinning wool, a timeless skill that New Yorkers have been doing for generations! Guests will get to feel the differences between different breeds of wool, hone their skills using both drop spindles and treadle spinning wheels, and take home yarn that they’ve spun themselves.

Recommended for ages 18+. All participants must purchase a ticket. 

Class size is very limited – reserve your spot today!

FAQs

Is there ample parking?

Yes! Park in any of the main lots at the front of the Museum (please leave the first two bays open for handicap parking).

Where do I check in?

Check-in will be in the Meeting Center Lounge, to the immediate right of the Admissions tunnel when you are facing the front of the Museum. 

You will be walking from Admissions to the workshop site and back. If you need assistance getting to and from the workshop site, please notify our staff, and the Security team will transport you in their vehicle. 

How do I show my purchased tickets?

Please have your ticket(s) either printed out OR pulled up on your phone screen and ready for scanning for quick and easy check-in. Pro-tip: take a screenshot of each of your tickets to have ready and pulled up on your phone screen! Please note: Wifi can sometimes be spotty at the front of the Museum. 

Is this event rain or shine?

Yes! The Museum will only cancel in the case of a severe weather emergency. 

Do I need to bring anything with me?

No, everything you need to make this class successful will be provided to you! 

What else will be open?

The Historic Village, Nature Center, Flint Hill Gift Shop, and John L. Wehle Gallery will all be open to visitors from 11 am – 3 pm. 

Limited menu items will be available in the Meeting Center Lounge Cafe between 11 am and 2 pm. 

Can I bring my dog?

Leashed service animals are welcome with proper identification. 

How should I dress?

Please wear close-toed shoes.

While this class will be held indoors, you will be walking from Admissions to the workshop site and back. Dress for the predicted weather conditions, and wear appropriate footwear. 

What if I need a refund for my ticket?

Tickets may be refunded only up to 7 days prior to the event date and are strictly non-transferable by date, entry time, or program.
