Discover the fundamentals of spinning wool, a skill that has been cherished by New Yorkers for generations! Participants will have the opportunity to explore the various textures of different breeds of wool and refine their skills using traditional drop spindles. A the end of this hands-on journey, you’ll leave with a beautifully spun skein of yarn – crafted by your own hands. Unleash your creativity in this timeless craft!
Recommended for ages 18+. All participants must purchase a ticket.

Yes! Park in any of the main lots at the front of the Museum (please leave the first two bays open for handicap parking).
You will first check in through the Admissions tunnel to get your hang tag. Then, an interpretation staff member will greet and guide the entire group back to the workshop site.
You will be walking from Admissions to the workshop site and back. If you need assistance getting to and from the workshop site, please notify our staff, and the Security team will transport you in their vehicle.
We will be checking you in by name. However, we recommend either printing out OR taking a screenshot of your invoice or ticket(s) as backup.
Yes! The Museum will only cancel in the case of a severe weather emergency.
No, everything you need to make this class successful will be provided to you!
The Historic Village, Nature Center, John L. Wehle Gallery, and Flint Hill Gift Shop will all be open to the public from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m..
Grab a bite and a cold drink at the Depot Restaurant between 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. (grill closes at 2).
Leashed service animals are welcome with proper identification.
Please wear close-toed shoes.
While this class will be held indoors, you will be walking from Admissions to the workshop site and back. Dress for the predicted weather conditions, and wear appropriate footwear.
