Youth Foraging

Sunday, November 12 | 12 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Hike and forage wild plants with us in our nature preserve!

Use your foraged plantains to make your own healing salve. While your salve bubbles away over the fire, make a bee’s wax candle and play some foraging related games to test your knowledge of local flora.

This is a drop-off experience for kids. Parents are welcome to explore all GCV&M has to offer – admission for 2 adults is included in the ticket price!

This program is perfect for ages 10+!

FAQs

Is there ample parking?

Parking is free and plentiful! Park in any of the main lots at the front of the Museum. Please leave the first two bays available for handicapped parking.

Where do I check in?

Please have your child in front of Admissions at 11:55 a.m. for class. The class teacher will check your child in by name and hand you your hang tags so that you can enjoy the Historic Village. The class will meet you back out in front of Admissions to pick your child up at 3 p.m.

How do I show my purchased tickets?

Please have your ticket(s) either printed out OR pulled up on your phone screen and ready for scanning for quick and easy check-in. Pro-tip: take a screenshot of each of your tickets to have ready and pulled up on your phone screen! Please note: Wifi can sometimes be spotty at the front of the Museum.

Is this event rain or shine?

Yes – this event is rain or shine! Please dress accordingly for the predicted weather conditions. We will cancel only in the case of thunderstorms or severe weather.

How should I dress?

Please dress accordingly for the predicted weather conditions.

We recommend wearing a good pair of walking shoes – there is a lot to see and do, and surfaces in the Historic Village (brick paths, cobblestone, grass), can be uneven.

Does the cost of the ticket include Daily Admission?

Yes! The purchase of this ticket includes admission for 1 child and up to 2 parents, as it is a drop-off experience. While your child is in class, you are welcome to enjoy the Historic Village until it is time to pick your child back up.

Where can I get food and drink?

The Depot Restaurant will be offering a limited menu from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.! Please note that grill items will NOT be available.

What if I need a refund for my ticket?

We’re sorry to hear that you’re not able to attend! Tickets may be refunded only up to 7 days prior to the event date and are strictly non-transferable by date, entry time, or program.
