Stations will include: \n-A Guided Hike along our Web of Life Trail to learn about seasonal plants and animals waking up from the cold winter\n-A visit to a vernal pond and look for salamanders\n-Meet our resident turtles in the Nature Center Building\n-Learn about the life cycle and evolutionary adaptions of a frog\n-Use aquatic nets to discover what is hiding beneath the surface of ponds (salamanders\, frogs\, tadpoles\, turtles\, bugs\, and plants!)\n-Play a salamander migration game \nTickets are no longer available for this event.

SUMMARY:Homeschool Day - 19th Century STEM
DESCRIPTION:This guided tour for homeschool families explores the world of STEM – from simple machines to 19th-century currency\, to ratios and math needed to change recipes in the kitchens. Students will use modern day methods to solve 19th-century problems. \nGroups will rotate through a series of 7 stations that have your kiddos: \n\nWatch colors change before your eyes as you learn the science behind dyeing wool to make colorful yarn\nDe-code a message in the telegraph office\nPractice math skills in a historic kitchen and manipulate a historic “receipt”\nMove your body using 19th century calisthenics routine to understand how specific movements became a popular health trend\nExperience how items were bought and traded in a 19th century general store using 19th century money\nLearn how women in the 19th century practiced science\, and try your botanical art skills alongside a visiting artist from the M.A.G.\n\nFrequently Asked Questions \n\nArrival & Check-in: \nParking is free and plentiful! Park in any of the main lots at the front of the  Museum. The first two bays are available for handicapped parking.\nYou will check in through the Admissions Tunnel at the front of the Museum.\nWIFI is unreliable at the front of the Museum. We recommend either printing out OR taking a screenshot of your ticket(s) or invoice and have them ready to present before getting to Admissions.\n\nFood & Shopping:  \n\nThe Museum is closed to visitors on this date\, but we hope you’ll come back another time to visit.\nYou are welcome to bring a bag lunch and eat on the Great Meadow or in the Depot Restaurant. Please note that Depot Restaurant will not be selling any food or beverages.\n\nOther Information:  \n\n\n\nThis is an outdoor\, guided walking tour. Please stay with your tour guide and follow all of their instructions.\nThis event is rain or shine! Dress accordingly for the predicted weather conditions and wear sturdy shoes for walking.\nVideography\, professional photography\, and drone usage are strictly prohibited.\nSmoking and vaping are strictly prohibited.\nWe allow leashed\, certified service animals with proper identification. We do not allow pets.\nTickets were refundable only up to 7 days prior to the event date. All GCV&M tickets are strictly non-transferable by program. No exceptions will be made.\n\n\n\nTickets are no longer available for this event and are NOT available for purchase at the gate.
