Hands carving a piece of wood

Woodcarving

Sunday, February 19 | 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Carve out some time to learn a new skill! Join award-winning instructor Chris Kieber for an introductory woodcarving class.  Participants will practice basic woodcarving skills and then carve their very own piece. No previous experience is required.  The project is suitable for beginner or intermediate carvers.

A wood blank and pattern will be provided. Participants should bring their own Kevlar cut-resistant glove to use on their non-dominant hand. The instructor recommends either a Kevlar glove with rubber gripping dots or a Kevlar glove reinforced with steel threads. Participants may bring along their own fixed-blade knife, borrow a knife for use during the class, or purchase their own fixed-blade knife to bring along. The instructor recommends the Flexcut brand of knives. Fixed-blade knives and Kevlar gloves can be found at local wood carving supply stores or online. Participants should also bring along their own lunch. Space is limited. Ages 16 to adults.
