You must reserve or purchase a September Homeschool Day ticket in conjunction with all Homeschool Workshop tickets. Workshop tickets had to be purchased online in advance and are no longer available for purchase.  \nHistory Stinks! | $5 per person | 1 – 1:30 p.m. \nLearn about many smelly aspects of 19th-century life and make a lavender sachet to take home. This workshop is open to all ages – any parent that chooses to stay with their child must also purchase a workshop ticket.  \nHearth-Cooking Workshop: Ginger Nuts | $15 per person | 1 – 2 p.m.\nExperience cooking at a historic hearth and take home the sweet treat you helped make. This workshop is for homeschool students age 7 – 17; parents will drop their child off at the workshop site and return to pick them up at workshop end.  \nWoodcarving Workshop | $15 per person | 3 – 4 p.m. \nBecome an apprentice to historic interpreter Benjamin Gray and whittle your own wooden spoon to take home. This workshop is for homeschool students age 12 – 17; parents will drop their child off at the workshop site and pick them up at workshop end.  \n19th Century Games | $5 | 3:30 – 4 p.m. \nExplore what children played with in the past. Guests will enjoy historic entertainment before sitting down to a full seven-course dinner (served family style). Guests are welcome to bring a bottle of wine of their choice. \nBill of Fare: \n\nPounded Cheese\, Water Crackers\, Dried Fruit\nBarley Soup\nBeef Stewed with Carrots\nRice and Tomatoes\nScalloped Mushrooms\nPickled Green Beans\nRolls\nMarble Cake with Whipped Cream\n\nFrequently Asked Questions:  \nArrival & check-in:  \n\nParking is free and plentiful! Park in any of the main lots at the front of the  Museum.\nAn interpretation staff member will greet you outside of Admissions and check you in by the purchaser’s name. We recommend also either printing out OR taking a screenshot of your invoice or ticket(s) as backup.\nOnce all participants have arrived\, the staff member will guide the group back to Hosmer’s Inn in the Historic Village. Dress for the predicted weather conditions and wear sturdy walking shoes.\nGuest transport will be available for guests unable to walk long distances. Please inform the staff member upon check-in that you require transport.\n\nOther Information:  \n\nAllergen information is available; however\, due to the historic nature of these dinners\, we are unable to accommodate special dietary restrictions. DESCRIPTION:See something very special happening in the Potter’s Shop located in our 19th-century Historic Village – we’re going to be firing the wood-fired kiln! \nGenesee Country Village & Museum is the only living history museum in the Northeast that fires salt-glazed stoneware in a wood-fired kiln as it was done in the 19th century. Join us on this exciting day to experience this unique historical happening! \nStarting early in the morning\, the kiln (filled with newly crafted ceramic pieces) will be bricked up and lit. The flames will be stoked continuously throughout the day. \nThe end temperature will reach nearly 2300°\, which will mature the clay\, turn the cobalt decoration into the traditional blue\, and create a glazed surface by introducing salt into the firebox during the last hour of firing. \nAfter cooling for quite some time\, these brand-new pieces will make their way to the Flint Hill Store and Village Mercantile\, where they will be available for purchase!
