Open Position: Senior Director of Facilities

The Genesee Country Village & Museum seeks a highly experienced individual to oversee the maintenance and preservation of the institution’s buildings and grounds, including 68 historic structures, nature center and art gallery.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6-8 years of progressive facilities management experience, including: proven supervisory expertise, a mechanical aptitude and a solid working understanding of a physical plant; (i.e. HVAC, plumbing electrical, etc.), budgeting, resources and project management skills, strong communications and planning abilities, a demonstrated ability to negotiate and oversee contracted services and must have the scheduling flexibility to work extended weekday hours as well as weekend hours to support the facilities/maintenance needs of the 700-acre campus.
Applicants should possess a working knowledge of state, municipal and local building codes, fire codes and environmental regulations. Knowledge of historic preservation and restoration techniques an advantage. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Competitive salary dependant on experience and education.

Open Position: Director of Special Events

Genesee Country Village & Museum is seeking a Director of Special Events. Duties and responsibilities include research planning and implementation of large scale events and special programs which use both educational materials and entertaining venues to engage our visitors. Museum special events support the museum’s strategic plan through engaging and enjoyable encounters which share the stories of the past while relating to the visitors of today.
The successful candidate must be experienced in the traditional management duties of maintaining a demanding day-to-day work environment while having the vision to create large entertainment venues and the experience to bring these plans to life.
The skills and abilities generally gained through an undergraduate degree in education, history or related fields plus a minimum of five to seven years demonstrated experience in a similar work situation in an educational, business or museum environment is preferred.

Open Position: Food Service Manager

Classification: Seasonal Position April-October
Genesee Country Village and Museum is interviewing for a full-time seasonal restaurant/food service manager. The successful candidate will be experienced, energetic and able to provide the museum and its guests with a food service department that meets standards for healthy, tasty food served in an efficient and friendly manner. He/She must carry a level Class I Food Worker Certification and have proven food service and personnel management and training skills.
Creative problem solving, budget management, task management, scheduling and event planning are also important skills for this position. The ability to work flexible hours including some weekends/holidays is a must. The museum is open six days a week including weekends and holidays from mid-May to mid-October. This is both a challenging and rewarding job for the right candidate.
