History

From 19th-century cooking and baking to historic trades, lifeways, and skills, and farm animals and agriculture, there’s something for everyone in the Historic Village!

Looking for something new to GCV&M? Join us for our new “Toward Freedom & Fairness” tour at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday to hear the stories of real people who played a part in Genesee Country’s complicated history of enslavement and freedom.

Plus, watch America’s favorite past time, Men’s and Ladies Vintage Base Ball, most Sundays and some Saturdays at GCV&M from June – October! Grabe a hot dog and a locally crafted beer at the Concession Stand, then sit back for some old-time entertainment. Become a member and attend all base ball matches for FREE!

Art

Explore these exhibits in the John L. Wehle Gallery!

  • Color Me Calico: A Taste for Prints and Parties (NEW in 2025)
  • Everybody’s Going to Be There! The American Rural Cemetery Movement
  • Perceived Realities: Wildlife, Land, & Myth

Nature

Take a hike on 5+ miles of Nature Trails to explore nature’s antiques – fossils! Then on Saturday and Sunday, grab a pair of binoculars and play bird bingo, read a nature-themed story in Genesee Country Nature Center’s cozy corner, meet our resident turtles, and visit with a Naturalist.

Food & Beverage

Grab a burger and fries or a homemade wrap at the Depot Restaurant 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. (grill closes at 3 p.m.) or sip on a historic craft beer at the Depot or the Freight House Pub (open Sunday from 12 – 3 p.m.)

Plus, taste historic treats like 1-2-3-4 Cakes, Springerles, and Hand Pies at the D.B. Munger & Co. Confectionery from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on weekend days.

Shop

Stop by the Flint Hill Store for unique gift ideas, village-made goods, homemade fudge, and more. Take home a mug or pitcher after visiting the potters, pick up a souvenir for a friend, or grab a t-shirt or hoody to share your love for GCV&M!
