Thursday, June 13

Open 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. - Juneteenth programming today!

What’s open today: Historic Village | John L. Wehle Gallery | Nature Trails | Depot Restaurant | Flint Hill Store 

Don’t miss: 

  • 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Join our Nature Center Director on the Livingston Backus Porch for a discussion about the American Ornithological Society’s bird renaming project – complete with resources, specimens, and binoculars!
  • 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Join Peter Wisbey for conversations about our ongoing work reinterpreting the Nathaniel Rochester House
  • 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Take part in an interactive mapping exhibit demonstration journey of freedom in the Genesee Valley in our Town Hall building
  • 11 a.m., 12 p.m., & 1 p.m.: Join guest speaker Wallace House for a call-and-response song activity in celebration of Juneteenth on the Village Square!
  • Explore the story of abolitionist William Wells Brown with our partner David Shakes

  • 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Join Peter Wisbey for conversations about our ongoing work reinterpreting the Nathaniel Rochester House
  • 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., & 1 p.m.: Join guest speaker Wallace House for a call-and-response song activity in celebration of Juneteenth on the Village Square!
  • 12 p.m.: Hear from the Black Storytelling League of Rochester whose performances will include a historical reenactment of early Juneteenth celebrations and storytelling related to Juneteenth! 
  • Learn from SUNY Geneseo’s Environmental Justice students who have researched historical land erasure in our Nature Center
  • and so much more!

  • 12 – 3 p.m.: Savor a Chicken BBQ at the Carport – available while supplies last!
  • Get up close and personal with historic trades in the 19th-century Historic Village
