Before you visit the John L. Wehle Gallery, Historic Village, or Nature Center, explore the schedule below to discover the variety of demonstrations, expert talks, historic tastings, and more happening each day at GCV&M!
GCV&M is open 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Thursdays – Sundays. On any given day, 16 – 20 historic buildings are open and staffed by costumed historical interpreters. In addition, almost 20 more buildings can be explored or partially entered. Make sure to share your adventures with us using #GCVMuseum!

11 a.m. – Farm Tour & Chores
Join our farmers and tour our Pioneer Settlement while helping them with their daily chores! Learn about 19th-century farm life in the Genesee Valley and meet our sheep, chickens, geese, and oxen.
The peach harvest in the Genesee Valley was good this year! Stop by Jones Farm Kitchen to see our costumed cook at work making delectable Peach Tarts.
Watch our blacksmith hammer away at projects ranging from nail making to equipment repairs!
Learn all about pottery in NY while watching our skilled potters create works of usable art!
Explore two exhibits: Becoming Gendered: Garment as Gender Artifact (NEW), and Duck Duck, Shoot! The Story of American Waterbirds (closing October 2023).

Visit our costumed historical cook in the Livingston-Backus House to see and smell bread baking!
Watch one of our master tradespeople take raw leather and create a wearable shoe!
Explore a 19th-century inn and find the similarities and differences between hotels then and now!
Take a hike! Explore nature trails radiating out from our Nature Center to experience regional flora and fauna.

The perfect way to kick off fall with friends and family! Explore the bounty of Western NY harvest as the Museum shines in its finest fall colors at our annual Agricultural Fair. Enjoy livestock and cooking demonstrations, listen to live music and see entertainment for the whole family, shop fresh local produce and handcrafted goods in the Farmer’s Market Tent, and celebrate the season in the tradition of the country fairs of days gone by.
