Ghost Stories of NY After-Hours Tours

Friday, September 20 & Saturday, September 21 AND Friday, October 11 & Saturday, October 12 | 5:30 - 8 p.m.

Join us this September for our popular Ghost Stories of NY tour in the Historic Village! Explore eerie folktales of supernatural visits and haunted happenings from across New York State on a guided walking tour through the shadowy corners of the Historic Village. Handed down from generation to generation, these are ghostly stories that persist to the present day – and some are based on historical accounts.

"Sleepy Hollow" Outdoor Screening with The Little

Thursday, October 10 | 7 p.m.

Head over to the Village Square on the eerie evening of Thursday, October 10, for a brand new offering this spooky season – an outdoor film screening with our friends from The Little Theater! Enjoy 1999 favorite “Sleepy Hollow” (Rated R), historical snacks, spooky explorations in the Foster-Tufts House decorated for mourning, and more! 

Spooky Saturday

Saturday, October 12 | 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Don your witchy season finest and join us for a spooky Saturday at Genesee Country Village & Museum! See the Historic Village in all of its fall splendor, attend a frighteningly fascinating talk on the history of rural cemeteries in America, visit our new exhibit Everybody’s Going to be There! The American Rural Cemetery Movement, snack on a funeral bun from the D.B. Munger & Co. Confectionery, see the Village bedecked in autumnal hues, and more. 

October Overnight at the Museum

Saturday, October 12, into Sunday, October 13, & Sunday, October 13, into Monday, October 14 | 5 p.m. - 10 a.m.

Join us at GCV&M for a fun new “night at the Museum” type offering – our October overnight at GCV&M! Bring a bagged dinner for the evening, then join us in our 19th century tavern for family-friendly beverages and treats, play historical games, make a Jack O’ Lantern nightlight, and historical games. Before camping out for the night, attend a “Ghosts of NY” tour in the 19th-century village, sit beside a camp fire. In the morning, join us for breakfast and coffee before we head out on a morning trail hike to enjoy fall foliage.

Spirits Of The Past: A Walk In The Dark

October 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, & 27

Beware, “Spirits of the Past” is back at GCV&M! Join us for an enchanting nighttime event within the dark recesses of our 19th-century village. If you dare to enter candle-lit historic buildings, you’ll encounter eerie scenes that bring to life the myths and monsters of yesteryear. Each stop on the tour reveals spine-tingling tales and spooky legends – and look out, ghosts and ghouls may be lurking around the Museum grounds at every turn. Before and after your tour, rest your bones at the “Spirits Lounge” or the “Fright” House Pub, where you can delight in a ghoulishly good beverage and bite to eat. 

Trick-Or-Treating in the Historic Village

Saturday, October 26 & Sunday, October 27 | 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Join us for the return of a crowd favorite – Trick-Or-Treating in our 19th-century village! Make your way to eight different historic porches where kids in costume can gather sweet treats, roast a marshmallow over an open fire on the Village Square, enjoy frighteningly fun face painting, listen in on family-friendly spooky storybook reading, participate in a costume parade around the Village Square, take a ghoulishly great family photo, and more! 

All Hallows’ Teas

Friday, October 25, Saturday, October 26, & Sunday, October 27 | 1 - 3 p.m.

Pick your poison on Saturday, October 26, from 1 – 3 p.m. at our Fall Tea set in our ghoulish Gallery! Get dressed to death for spooky season and savor the warm and cozy flavors of fall. Tickets to All Hallows’ Tea events include access to the Historic Village (open from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. with a limited number of open historical homes and buildings), 5+ miles of Nature Trails, exhibits in the John L. Wehle Gallery, and shopping in the Flint Hill Store.

A Night With Edgar Allan Poe

Friday, November 1 | 5:30 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.

Step into the shadowy world of Edgar Allan Poe as we close out the spooky season with a chilling evening of storytelling. On All Souls Day spend an unforgettable night with Poe aficionado Chris Lynn as he presents the bone-chilling The Tell-Tale Heart and delves into the life of this master of American horror. Then, immerse yourself in the unnerving world of contemporary Gertrude Atherton with Amy Hanley-Dykstra’s rendition of Death and the Woman. Create the perfect atmosphere with craft spirits that are as creepy as they are delicious, accompanied by the haunting melodies of The Fiddle Witch. Don’t miss this spine-tingling tribute to the darker side of literature…if you dare!
