GCV&M’s one-day and overnight adventures for families are led by a Museum educator and provide an immersive Museum experience without a week-long camp commitment. Experience hiking through lush – or wintry! – landscapes, crafting unique treasures, engaging in imaginative play, and discovering the charm of the Historic Village.

Family Overnights at the Museum
Join us at GCV&M for a delightful family-friendly overnight adventure! Bring your own bag dinner for the evening, enjoy engaging games and creative crafts, explore the wonders of a night-time Historic Village tour, and relax with refreshing, non-alcoholic tavern drinks and tasty snacks. Before bed, gather around a cozy campfire to share stories – then in the morning savor a hearty breakfast and embark on a scenic hike.

A fun-filled “night at the Museum”! Bring a bagged dinner for the evening, then join us in our 19th century tavern for family-friendly beverages and treats, play historical games, make your own historical games. Before camping out for the night, attend a guided tour in the 19th-century village, and sit beside a campfire to roast marshmallows and share stories. In the morning, join us for breakfast and coffee before we head out on a morning trail hike to enjoy the signs of spring popping up around us.

Before camping out for the night, attend a slightly spooky guided tour in the 19th-century village, and sit beside a campfire to roast marshmallows and share stories. In the morning, join us for breakfast and coffee before we head out on a morning trail hike to enjoy fall foliage.

We let YOU define your family, just keep in mind activites are geared toward families with younger children. Multi-generational, single, and two-parent families are welcome.
Yes! We hope you enjoy the Historic Village, John L. Wehle Gallery, and Genesee Country Nature Center while you’re here.
Time will be limited for self-guided exploration during one-day programs.
Yes! This event is rain or shine. The Museum will only cancel in case of a severe weather emergency.
Please dress accordingly for the predicted weather conditions.
We recommend wearing a good pair of walking shoes – there is a lot to see and do! Surfaces on our trails and in the Historic Village (brick paths, cobblestone, grass) can be uneven.
Space will be available for sleeping bags indoors and we’ve got lots of outdoor space for tents with restrooms nearby. BYO sleeping equipment, including tents, blankets or sleeping bags, pads, and pillows.
Yes! Leashed service animals are welcome with proper identification.
