Become a Citizen Scientist with iNaturalist.org
You can learn about the plants and animals in your own homes, backyards, and local parks or green spaces! The popular iNaturalist app is a great way for anyone to document and identify the wildlife and plants you are currently coming into contact with, and find out more information about these species.
Start by downloading the iNaturalist app or visiting www.inaturalist.org to join, and capture photographs of the plants and wildlife that you see around you. Using the app on your phone, or the website, you can upload your images to iNaturalist where other naturalists can see them. These citizen scientists work together to provide users with identification and information about the species in their photos.

Once you start observing, don’t forget to join and add your observations to the Naturalists at Home with GCV&M Project. This will let our staff know what wildlife you’ve come across in your own neighborhoods, and let us chime in with identifications and more information about the biodiversity all around you!
