Explore the Historic Village and Heirloom Gardens
On Mother’s Day, our costumed historical interpreters in the Village will showcase a number of tasks and activities reflective of what life was like for 19th-century mothers. Explore historic homes, kitchens, and heirloom gardens, and don’t forget to treat mom to a traditional 19th-century pastry from the D.B. Munger & Co. Confectionery!
Explore the Gallery
Take Mom through the John L. Wehle Gallery to explore a BRAND NEW exhibit entitled “Everybody’s Going to be There: The American Rural Cemetery Movement.” This exhibit presents a wide variety of fine wildlife art, maps, memorial art, natural animal and geological specimens, mourning jewelry and stationery, and cemetery tourism ephemera of the 19th century.
Also on view is the fashion and textile exhibit: “Becoming Gendered: Garment as Gender Artifact!” This multimedia exhibit exploring how 19th-century Americans performed and navigated the changing landscape of gendered fashion.
