Carpetbag
Object/Artifact
One large handmade carpetbag made of red fabric with a large black and cream floral pattern. The bottom has a rectangular board and five brass knobs to protect the bottom of the bag. The handles are a reddish-brown leather with white stiching and copper rivets. The locking mechanism is brass and there is a decorative escutcheon with concentric circles and half moon engravings. A brass key is with the bag. The lining is natural canvas with one pocket on the back side and two small pockets on the front side. There is a label sewn to the front pocket with the name of the company and their contact information. This is a replica of an 1860s bag.
