Two-piece day dress of black silk voided velvet and black ribbed silk, bodice lined with dark brown cotton twill. Standing collar above narrow panels of ribbed silk holding center front closure with steel buttons depicting a woman holding a fan; trimmed at middle of chest with a black grosgrain ribbon. Long, curved sleeves with a slight fullness at sleeve head. A white cotton picoted trim edges collar and wrists. Front of skirt is made up of three panels of voided velvet with narrower panels of ribbed silk between them, and back of skirt is entirely ribbed silk. Pocket is inserted into proper right side of skirt; a channel containing a curved steel is sewn inside the back. Machine sewn.
