Quilted Hood
Clothing/Dress/Costume
Quilted bonnet hood of black silk taffeta, self-faced, with brown glazed/polished cotton lining and thin wadding. Center panel of hood is pleated at neck and flares widely over back; side panels flow more sedately. Front edge is trimmed with box-pleated black silk satin ribbon, and a black silk grosgrain ribbon bow is placed over pleats at back of neck. Side panels are machine-quilted in concentric triangles centered at shoulder, while center panel is quilted with more artistic loops down to four plain horizontal lines at bottom. Lower edge is cut in scallops and bound in taffeta. Narrow black silk ribbon ties attached to facing. Machine sewn.
