Woman's day dress of reddish brown ribbed silk, lined with dark brown cotton twill. Standing collar, edged with a white cotton band topped with a white cord; center front hook and eye closure beneath ruched plastron front, which also fastens with hooks and eyes, as well as a secondary internal closure of two small panels with hooks and eyes at the waist. Long, slightly curved sleeves, with white trim at wrists. Back extends into slight tail with four points; internally has a length of brown wool tape attached to side back seams at waist. Skirt is built on a foundation of brown polished cotton with waistband opening at side back, interfaced and faced with black polished cotton above twill-tape-bound hem. It is made with a front panel which is slightly gathered into side front seams, and back panels which are pleated into side back and center back seams near top; side panels are cut into tabs (self bound) at bottom. Bottom of foundation is covered with the ribbed silk, and a long, knife-pleated flounce. Machine sewn, with trim sewn by hand.
