Quilted bonnet hood of black/white/tan checked silk taffeta, self-faced, lined with dark brown glazed/polished cotton, and wadded thickly. Brim is quilted with black silk thread in rows parallel to front edge, forming large puffs; round crown is quilted in more modest diagonal rows. Brim is tightly ruched to crown, with a piped seam. Bavolet has one row of quilting around the edge. Ribbon (figured with leaves down center green and black stripe, surrounded by ombré brown stripes, and with green and black narrow stripes at selvages) used for ties and for a bow at center back of bavolet seam. Hand sewn.
