"Entirely hand stitched white percale-like cotton. U shaped bag with casing and plied white cotton drawstrings ending in pairs of tassels. Small tassel at each bottom corner. Lined with finer cotton (lawn) which extends beyond the top edge as a frill. Seams between front and back formed by joining tiny buttonholed loops worked along each edge. Embroidered with white cotton satin stitch and French knots. Borders, fields with cornucopia and floral decorations. No date. Initials :MAG and to] on top; inside wreath in center is S. Adams." Purchased with dress G98.039 although there is no documentation relating them. I suspect the dress is a little later than the bag.
