Damask woven ecru silk, angular scrolls not distinctively Chinese. Thin silk fringe even on selvage, apparently teased out or left out at intervals during weaving. Block printed with stylized cartouche surrounded with carnations, dogwood and scrolls, in lavender, pink, red, olive and brownish black, and what appears to have been buff or peach. Border of cartoonlike floral and abstract elements on a lavender ground. About 44” square
