Clothing/Dress/Costume

Entirely machine-stitched man’s shirt made of mainly blue heavy checked cotton with fine pale red cross stripe, machine woven. Slightly shaped sides with rounded corners. Short side vents. Front placket and band collar. All seams except sleeve topstitched. 4 white glass buttons, one on each cuff. Buttonholes are hand-stitched. Long, fairly full sleeves set rather high on the shoulder, gathered at top and bottom. Band cuffs with button close to base. Upper body lined side to side, front and back with unbleached muslin. The selvage was used for the cuff where it was folded around to the front and topstitched down- fewer steps and thinner layers.
