Bonnet
Clothing/Dress/Costume
Drawn bonnet or sunbonnet made of colorful plaid or madras and self-lined. Standard format with 7 cane hoops in back, a pair and then a triplet in front; the back and front ones each with added frill. Self bow in back. Medium length cape with rounded corners in front, and self ties with half-rounded ends. The indicators of a later, rather than earlier date: the rounded corners, the self lining, and the unusually colorful cotton which has a heavier white accent thread in the warp repeat. This was described as a “Quaker” bonnet.
