Cameo
Jewelry
Three Graces, originally Greek Charities or Greek Goddesses, daughters of Zeus and Hera (or Eurynome, daughter of oceans). They are Euphrosyne (joyfulness), Aglaea (brightness/elegance), and Thalia (youth, beauty, good cheer). They were commonly the subject of paintings and sculpture. A very thin piece of shell is finely carved. Frame is 800 silver with milgrain edging and 4 marcasites held in by pulled pieces of metal at top, bottom and each side. Prongs hold the cameo front and back. The back may be coated with some lacquer. There is a delicate hook to make it into a pendant. Round hinge and older style, but modern safety clasp. 800 is marked on the back. 1 1/16" long. 1 3/8" wide
