Child's dress of red wool, trimmed with black silk velvet ribbon. Bodice is lined with coarse off-white cotton, and the skirt with a finer one. Fastens down center back with black japanned buttons in black-thread buttonholes. Wide neckline, finished with black silk taffeta piping. (There is a tuck in back neckline on proper left side, sewn with white thread.) Short sleeves, trimmed with three rows of velvet ribbon; sleeve heads form the sides of the neckline. Unfitted bodice finished with black taffeta piping at waist. Unshaped skirt is gauged evenly to waistline, and trimmed with two rows of velvet ribbon near hem. Hand-sewn.
