2-piece day dress made of silk taffeta. Bodice (a) - 3/4 sleeves. The center front closure is made up of 10 covered buttons, with two metal snaps. The bodice has lapels / revers with a long square neckline; the neckline and armhole openings are filled with pleated gauze; the bodice is made with ten gored panels. Lapels / revers and bottom of the hem of the bodice edged with cording. Magenta ribbons at the center front and cuffs of sleeves, and center back; two center back buttons; entirely lined with cotton broadcloth. cotton waist tape in the interior waist. Boning at center front and side panel seams. Skirt (b) - panels sewn by machine. The bottom hem is hand-turned. Knife pleats moving away from the center front. The center back bustle is gathered to the waist. The interior seams are unfinished. 3 silk flounces across the skirt, and hand-stitched to the skirt. The Interior is lined with crinoline gauze. The waist closure consists of a hook and eye. Flounce edge bound with cording; large silk taffeta bow in back with one large loop.
