Brown silk cover (may or may not have been waterproofed) with brocade border, pagoda shape. Carved ivory or bone shaft with heavy, elaborately carved ivory or bone crook handle with a dragon head. Short slider, brass ferrules form top and lower part of shaft. Tip is turned and carved ivory. Gilt steel stretchers and baleen ribs with bone tips. Turned knob for spike. Wired top notch, spring latch at top, none at bottom. No remaining evidence of ring or ribbon, but a (probably later) small black vegetable ivory button with a fragment of elastic (?) braid remains near edge of cover
