Parasol with printed sturdy cotton cover, simple turned handle, knob and black lacquered tin ferrule. Baleen ribs, black lacquered steel stretchers, short brass runner; the rib tips seem to be carved from the end of the rib and just painted black. The print is a decorative stripe of sprawling black and red arabesques on a white ground, bordered with a coral-colored fat scrolly band, alternating with a tan ground with white arabesques, with pale blue horizontal bands running through everything. Incised MOP button and self-loop to hold it closed.
