Collar

Object/Artifact

"Entirely hand stitched sheer muslin collar, cut straight across neck edge and having broad points along outer edge, not coming up or around to the neck edge. The pointed edge is finished with a narrow-hemmed, 1.5” wide self frill. The outer half is sprinkled with tiny embroidered eyelets and the inner half with embroidered dots. Centered in each point is a tiny eyelet floret. It appears to be intended to stand because the inner side has two parallel rows of narrow braid applied in zig-zag formation, and the center back a close pair of lines applied perpendicular to the edge, which would assist the collar to stand when starched."
