Variety of exquisitely worked bobbin lace motifs carefully attached to a long piece of silk machine tulle curved as if intended to become a collar. Also has a couple of needle lace motifs as well. One flower has a very tiny lace roundel within each petal, like Italian lace. Perhaps these were rescued from a length of lace whose ground was shot. It appears to be an Early Brussels.Karen Augusta:Finely worked bobbin lace motifs of various techniques have been assembled together, hand stitched onto a machine made mesh ground in the shape of a bertha. The designs of these elements include leaves and large scale exotic blossoms. 18th C Brabant and Point d’Angleterre are the two types of bobbin lace found on this assembled piece.
