Coin silver, no mark. Narrow arched bridge with scrolled edge. Long sharp teeth soldered to bead on reverse. Teeth bent backwards (seems original) to permit bridge to stand erect on top of head. Fruit basket tooled design conforming to shape. Bridge 3/4” x 5”; teeth 3.5” long.

4.5 x 5” coin silver comb. Bright cut scroll design on bridge with scalloped edge; no marks. 9 angled teeth of graduated length formed of metal drawn through almond cross-section die. Shaped to gentle points, soldered onto reverse of bridge against a wire barrier.

Comb, coin (?) silver, engraved with foliate scrolls on 1” widecurved bridge. 8 graduated teeth of almond cross-section, drawn through die, soldered against silver barrier on the back of the bridge. Like 87.101 4" wide by 3.5" high. No marks.

About 7” high by 8” across . Carved design of chrysanthemums and plume-like leaves, with thin recessed areas with star shapes punched through. Sharp long, straight teeth with square cut spaces. Cable design across bridge. Willard? Owner’s ? name scratched into one side tooth.

Looks like tortoiseshell, thin and delicate with careful filigree design with birds, hearts and foliage. Hand cut teeth, square openings. About 6” high x 5” wide.

Finely carved heavy tortoiseshell, hand carved teeth. Simple curved shape. Bridge has dense filigree of peonies and stems. Floral border centered with a bat with elegantly flourished wings. 6” high at center; 6” across. Early repair to break in form of a metal patch neatly pinned to the base of the bridge, and two wires above.

Entirely hand-stitched white jean or coutil. Brass eyelets, heavily corded especially at ribs; split breast cups; hip gores. Busk channel is accessed by a vertical slit at the top, inside and secured with a tie (missing) through a pair of stitched eyelets. Straps cut off and the cut edges finished with more twill tape. PW cotton tape cursorily attached to shoulder straps to outer corners, with one twisted.

Entirely hand-stitched girl's corset made of fine linen lined with fine cotton; single bust gussets; hand-stitched eyelets between 2 corded rows along the back opening; shoulder straps; busk channel appears to have been sewn closed; does not appear to have been functional.

Youth or early teen child (most likely a girl) corset. Mass-produced in cotton, and entirely machine-stitched. Shoulder straps with buttons, and buttons across waist area to attached drawers/petticoats etc. CF opening of buttons. All buttons in place and made of tonga nut. Label in CF that reads: "Ideal Size 13." Unlined. Very similar to "Ferris Good Sense Corset Waist" for children.

Ferris Health or Sport Corset in "orchid." Corded cotton corset with a few stays and adjustable shoulder straps. Lacing in back and sige hips is also adjustable. Front celluloid buttons.

Entirely machine made corset; heavy tan cotton sateen, inside and out; corded; black metal 'bones' in center front and center back; 'instant' fastener; garter attachments [removed] and small pointed straps at side back waist, laced back, gussets in back; unboned breast area; shoulder straps adjustable with white metal buckles; pointed waist; lace trim. Probably a health or reform or sport corset.

jumps or ‘underbodice’, plain linen Entirely hand stitched linen jumps or underbodice; no lining or boning; just rather loose.

Entirely hand stitched white cotton sateen lined with plain weave white cotton. Hip gussets and pairs of breast gussets. Corded scallops around edges of each section. Attached shoulder straps, set widely apart. Edges bound with twill tape. Brass eyelets. Busk section has no opening; either it never was there or the corset was rebound in such a way as to close it off although that is unlikely. Inked “A. L. Luckett” inside right back at bottom. Note the small size of the lower torso in proportion to the upper body.

Entirely hand stitched, brownish yellow silk thread, brown cotton sateen. Chevron cording in bust area front and back; high waisted. Wide shoulder straps come close together in back; wide, high, straight neckline in front. Neck, arm and hem edges bound with brown twill tape. Lined with now-cream colored brushed cotton flannel. HH cross stitched in lining over left hip with fine black thread. Pairs of bone eyelets in back; stout cotton braided cord (original?) with clamped steel tags. Busk channel formed by layer of sturdy PW cotton over lining, with side opening at top.

Entirely hand-stitched unlined white coarse cotton, back opening, hand made level pairs of eyelets up the back. Slightly flared, ends just above hips; widely set straps, ‘princess’ seams in front, neck edge slightly gathered over each breast. Tubular cotton lace ending in crimped white metal tag.

"1.Corset is entirely hand stitched fine cotton sateen, the decorative stitches being golden yellow (perhaps from age) silk. The top has a rather flattened bust area formed by a grid of cording, bordered at base with decorative scallops. The back has diagonal cording between the shoulder blades. Bottom flares out; back has hand stitched eyelets and original lace and tags. Widely set shoulder straps. Inside stenciled with name in cartouche “Dorothy Morton.” Busk is formed of steel, covered with kid whipped together along one side. It is shaped to conform to the curve of the body, somewhat. The busk seems original to this garment.

White twilled linen [?] with minimal cording. Gores (with gores) for bust, widely spaced. Gores in hips. Widely set shoulder straps with stitched figure-8 design. Busk channel terminates with a little heart shape. Brass eyelets. Lined with white coutil. 18” waist. Wooden busk, entirely plain. Straight with rounded ends. Owner’s number, 8-96 on on side. Busk is a little too large 12.5” x 1.5”

Entirely hand-stitched white cotton little girl’s corset with densely corded divisions and ivy pattern worked into the bust area. Busk channel with two eyelets at base. Bone eyelets in back. No marks.

Entirely machine-stitched corset made of ivory sateen. Blue silk embroidered details and blue silk ribbon binding on top with narrow lace edging. Gored panels. Laces in back appear original. Speculated to be a wedding corset. Seams of each of the panels are hidden beneath the external boning channels. 7 panels on each side, making 14 total. the center front and center back are nearly straight, while all others are shaped and flared to create the shape of the corset, even before boning is added. Boning is spring-steel, placed in 6 sets of three bones, with two separate bones at the center back with eyelets in between. Busk in the center front has four posts.

Entirely hand-stitched corset made of white fine linen. Lined with jean. Neatly corded midsection, on the diagonal, worked in medium blue thread, lighter in some places. Double gores for fairly large bust, hip gores. Busk channel with opening inside; similar ones for bones at the opening edges. Bone eyelets. Straps attach at the front with tapes, probably not original. The waist between eyelets is 17” - seemingly an impossible size and it leaves a good 8” agape in the back on the smallest mannequins. The shoulders are wide by comparison.

Girl’s corset, entirely hand stitched, made of white cotton, self lined, without any corded sections. Cut in one piece with small bust gores, hip gores. Corded edges with buttonholed eyelet holes for laces. Wide busk channel with buttonholed opening inside top to receive it. Appears to have been worn seldom, if ever. Inked museum accession number, 1942.19, crossed out in ink on lower right bottom edge. Waist between eyelets is 19” - seemingly an impossible size, and it leaves a good 4-6” agape in back on the smallest mannequins. The shoulders are wide by comparison.

1. Corset, entirely hand stitched white cotton sateen, lined with white plain weave cotton. Stitched with silk, now yellow, probably once white. High waistline suggested by band of floral vine embroidery crossed by center front busk channel, 21” across. No bust gores, upper portions decorated with flowers on leafy stems. Initials CR in script on either side of channel. No hip gores. Corded edges of back opening which has brass eyelets in staggered arrangement. Edges bound with white cotton twill tape. 2. Busk, slightly arched, made of simple strip of fine-grain wood, smoothed but unfinished."

Deep breast gussets; bottom edge curves up to the sides in the front, and back down around the back; fitted with gussets across back hip. Extensive boning and cording along side front and the back, with busk channel. High, straight front neckline. Straps that tie on the front with brown twill tape ties. Laced in the back through metal eyelets; modern shoe lace. The bottom proper left corner has a short brown twill tape tie for what- to secure the end of the lace? b) Plain oak (chestnut)? busk with rounded ends; shaped to conform to the front contours. It fits the channel perfectly, apart from protruding from the top."

Corset cover of cotton dimity in light ribbed texture. Ribs going vertically down corset cover. Machined-lace insertion attached to trim neckline, armscyes, and inserted across bust where yoke attaches to cover body. Yoke are extends across upper chest, with vertical tucks or pleats. CF opening of small carved MOP buttons (4), with pink silk ribbon ties at neckline and across bottom edge. Gathering in CF panel beneath bust line indicates a date range of turn of the century - pigeon breast/monobosom.

Entirely handstitched, all cotton- outside sateen (?), inside plain weave. Plain weave cloth binding; gathered over bust; 7 hobnail milk glass buttons; enlarged in front.

"1. Sturdy white cotton corset cover, machine stitched, home made. Wide scoop neck shallow yoke, sleeveless; pair of deep darts on either side gives close fit. Bound edges but raw edges on bottom. No fasteners

Entirely hand stitched white cotton corset cover. Basque; side panels inserted later. Sleeveless; neck and armholes finished with narrow machine embroidered vandykes. Cotton drawstring in center front neckline. 7 mother of pearl buttons down front to waist.

A plastron cravat made of heavy black satin with a simple scrolled brocade motif, 2 yards along the selvedge by about a foot wide, folded in half lengthwise with additional folding, shaped so one end is wider than the other; both sides have tiny hand-stitched hems, Folded and heavily pressed, the edges are stitched together and gradually narrow around the neck. Raw edges of the sides are not hemmed.

Hand made black silk satin cravat with small symmetrical tie with pointed. ends. Slightly curved in front. Lined with roller print cotton, leather upper edge. Black lacquered narrow steel buckle. 15.5” long, 2” high, CF. Same owner as waistcoat #92.049.

1. Entirely hand stitched cravat made of soft white silk satin. Neck is a covered metal band that fits around the neck, one end overlaps the other in back, where its end is concealed by a fold of cloth. The knots are formed of self-striped silk softly folded over cotton batting, from which two long, flat folded ‘ends’ hand. 2. Cylindrical cardboard box covered with buff paper atop blue paper over the seams.

Crinoline cage or hoop consisting of six rows of hoops at ankle and shin height. Suspended by cotton twill tapes, with waistband buckling in CF.

Girl’s hoop with 17 rows of spring steel covered with cotton braid. Inserted into pockets woven for the purpose into striped cotton tape, 2 in front, 2 at sides, 2 in back. Symmetrical bell form. WB formed of white fancy woven cotton tape doubled over, with brass eyelets and hook fastener. Brass joiners.

10- hoop cage crinoline with braid-wrapped steels. Coarsely woven belt and 5 strips. Brass hook/eyelet fastener. Bell-shaped. 20” waist, 18” long, 15” bottom diameter. Leather reinforcement along front opening.

"31-hoop girl’s cage crinoline, braid-wrapped steels. Coarsely woven tape waistband, 9 strips. Leather along opening with holes for lacing shut. Supposed to be pinned shut, apparently. Little extension hand sewn to waist, 28” total. 20” long by about 23” bottom diameter. Marked: “35 x 72 Empress Downs & Bassett Birmingham, Conn. 30 springs”Thick white cotton lace has what appears to be period brass tags, but superficially appears to be modern."

Design of 3 large white roses and 2 buds executed in opal and white beads with green and yellow centers with gold accents; leaves in 2 shades of green and butterscotch.1) Waistband or belt, field speckled with double triplets of green and gold beads. Lined with lemon yellow silk.2) Pair of cuffs lined with pale pink silk

2 different cuffs, richly embellished with floral beading worked over cotton wadding pads for 3D effect. Hooks set into a short edge of each one.1) Soft red velvet base with 3 large white roses and 2 buds executed in opal and white beads with green and yellow centers with gold accents; leaves in 2 shades of green and butterscotch. Lined with pale pink silk.2) Black velvet base with a red-edged white flower with yellow center and green shading in the center. Shaded pink flowers to one side, shaded yellow ones on the other. Three-tone swirling green leaves. Lined with crimson silk.

Cotton cuff - single, not a pair. Made from plain weave cotton. Large enough to fit around elbow of wearer - possibly a rococo-revival/centennial cuff or engageante. One side is wider with 1" deep hem, while other side has two small tucks. Both edges are trimmed in point-lace or crotched flowers in open-work design. Set into center band. Entirely machine-stitched with some hand-finishing on the inside. Milk glass button closure on center band.

Fine cotton sleeve frill, about 4" long, still attached to a bit of its band or cuff which is embroidered with variable sized satin with stitched polka dots. The frill is embroidered with 7 rows of scallops with dots inside each one.

1 singular lady's wrist cuff of lace. Made of machined Leavers lace. Picot edge on one side, while scalloped edge on three sides.

Pair of fine cambric cuffs in triangular shape, hand embroidered in white with a floral eyelet pattern; the larger holes filled with different needle lace fillings. Hole at each corner for a cuff link

Bodice - Tailored bodice with stays on interior. Outer body is made from maroon velvet, with silk satin sleeves, slightly full at cap. Faux-lapels of brocade with silk plastron, hide CF buttoning. One metal button missing from bottom of bodice hem edge. Two long tails of velvet hanging from back of bodice down over skirt CB. Two larger buttons covered in the silk brocade on either side of breast - not functional. Skirt - two-layers bustle skirt, reduced bustle from late 1880s. Asymmetric gathering, with CB closure of hook and eye. Lined with heavy brown glazed cotton, with hem braid on bottom edge. Two new brown twill tape ties added in June, 2025 for tying on mannequin or hanging mount. Original black ties on waistband are torn and disintegrating - brown ties added see above. Skirt has two hanging bans of silk brocade that end of frayed brocade to make tassel edges. These two tassel edges are tangled with a bits of brown material - possibly leaves(?)

Woman's dress of black wool twill, lined with dark brown cotton. Bound jewel neckline over center front closure with seven buttons (black glass, not original). Two darts on either side of bodice front. Long, curved sleeves. Slightly gored skirt, pleated in the front and gathered in the back.

Entirely hand-stitched diaper cover made of all bias-cut cotton. Ruffled around legs.

Machine woven brown plaid with edging/facing of brown print; hand stitched; white china buttons, 3 each side. Overcast center back seam. Tiny hems. Center seam about 16” long. Screaming orange stripe faded to yellow in center area.

Child's doll with jointed composition body, short blonde hair, and replacement china head. She is wearing a blue silk crocheted cap tied with a pink silk ribbon; a pink and white checked dress with long sleeves, handmachine-embroidered white cotton neck ruffle, and center back buttoning closure; light blue cotton knitted lace stockings, and light brown leather shoes that tie over top of foot.

Doll’s dress bodice, entirely hand stitched, of Turkey red printed cotton, small spring design with yellow and blue accents. Wide waistband, bodice gathered into it all around, bound wide neckline, back opening. Medium length tubular sleeves with triangular turnback cuffs trimmed with soutache.

Tiny or miniature Quaker bonnet, (possibly a doll’s), entirely hand stitched, perfectly formed. Outer fabric is celadon green silk. lined with buckram; cardboard brim lined with thin ivory silk. Brim is fairly deep with rounded corners, smoothly covered. The crown is neatly gathered onto it over stiffened buckram pleated over a mold. The bavolet has a pleat above the hem, topped by a self-band of folded silk formed into a tailored bow at center back. Self-ties. Old wad of cotton inside crown, removed. About 3” long. (Front to back)

Doll jacket or sacque, entirely hand stitched, made of brown Holland trimmed with fine linen braid around the edges. ‘Coat’ sleeves set into deeply sloping shoulders, flaring body with lower front corners of opening curved. Standing collar.

Doll drawers made of white plain weave cotton. Rikrak (handmade) insertion at hems, and eyelet edging. Tuck around each leg. Back opening with white China button on waistband. Closed.

Doll dress, entirely hand stitched; red printed cotton; about 16” long, gauged skirt and bodice. Waistband whipped to them. Short sleeves gathered at top to form slight ruffle; neck binding cut in 1 straight piece. Back opening with no evidence of fasteners.

Small red print on white plain weave cotton. Darted bodice; waistband; 3/4 sleeves with ruff and lace edging, gathered at midpoint; 2 ruffles around skirt. Wide shallow neckline with shallow bertha effect edged with lace. Entirely hand stitched.

Thin white cotton, entirely hand stitched; bodice gathers at CF waist; wide neckline; puffed sleeves; long skirt gauffered onto wide waistband; 1.5” hem; back opening with 3 tiny handmade black glass buttons with white dots on top; lined bodice, and sleeves lined as tube to preserve puffed effect. Musln frill edged with lace on neck and sleeves. 17” long.

Dress of white brocade striped cotton, hand stitched. Slight bell sleeves edged with lace; set in waistband, straight neckline; back opening with brass hooks. Petticoat, crudely sewn heavy white cotton, gathered into waistband Chemise, 2 pieces of heavy white cotton, flaring shape.

Entirely hand-stitched doll dress made of thin cotton. Printed with a blue stripe alternating with a stripe of geometric paisley motifs. Wide straight sleeves. Strap-line shoulder piece which may indicate it's cut down from child-size dress. Bodice and skirt gathered into 12 in waistband; drawstrings in the front and back neck.

Doll’s dress of changeable green silk. Green/pink shot silk taffeta doll dress, hand stitched with green silk thread. Surplice bodice and bretelles up the back and over the front of shoulder. Large upper sleeve extends to the wrist. Set waistband. Skirt interlined with what appears to be an “old” handkerchief. 16” long.

Doll dress, entirely hand stitched of dark chocolate brown self-striped taffeta, pieced. a) dress with ‘coat’ sleeves, front opening bodice with skirt pleated onto a waistband around to the back where it is gathered. Tiny thread ball buttons, decorative. Bodice lined with cap dimity. b) Overskirt smooth over front and longer, and more fully gathered in back; edged with tan-brown silk fringed braid which also outlines ‘cuffs’ on the sleeves.

Doll dress made of double-pink printed cotton. Probably stitched by a child- it is a bit crude. Wide straight neckline, bound, slightly flaring sleeves, full skirt. Back opening, no fasteners. Purchased on a new pseudo-old wooden mannequin too large for it. 11” long.
