Bilge Pump
Object/Artifact
Bilge pump. Cylindrical vertical tube open at the bottom (1997.10.1a). A second tapered tube is attached to the bottom at a 45 degree angle. A support bar joins the two tubes near the top. A strap handle with wood fill is soldered to the top of the vertical tube. There is a wooden turned plunger with a shaped handle (1991.10.1b). A small tin plate is nailed to the bottom. Lamp wicking nailed around the base of the plunger.
