Box, Needlework
Object/Artifact
Shaker sewing box, walnut-veneered pine. Common type whose lid is made of 9 blocks of maple and walnut veneer; angled sides; inlaid stringing in center block and on front. Interior of the lid is lined with brown pattern-printed paper, having a wide mirror in the center attached with a band of blue pattern-printed paper. Base lined with thin pink paper. Tray has 9 main divisions, lined with blue paper. Pincushion and 2 lids are covered with red-ground printed cotton. An old, if not original key is present. 11 1/8” x 7 7/8”
