Crinoline, Cage

"31-hoop girl’s cage crinoline, braid-wrapped steels. Coarsely woven tape waistband, 9 strips. Leather along opening with holes for lacing shut. Supposed to be pinned shut, apparently. Little extension hand sewn to waist, 28” total. 20” long by about 23” bottom diameter. Marked: “35 x 72 Empress Downs & Bassett Birmingham, Conn. 30 springs”Thick white cotton lace has what appears to be period brass tags, but superficially appears to be modern."
