Day Dress
Clothing/Dress/Costume
Day dress of bright purple wool twill; bodice lined with light brown cotton twill. Standing collar over center front buttoning closure. Bodice flares out at the waist to form short basque, with cotton-covered hoops sewn to inside front and back hem, and extends down the back nearly to hem of skirt. Watch pockets set into either side of waist, with arrowhead tacks at each end. Long drape is attached near hem at one side, and appears to be intended to stretch across the front and be pinned at the other side to create a tablier. Skirt, lined with printed cotton, is heavily gauged at center back, and pulled back with internal tie; hem faced with polished cotton. Machine sewn.
