Garter
Object/Artifact
Garter, hand sewn and stenciled on cream velveteen; rose adjoining a johnny-jump-up, near a pink, the legend “les attache”; executed in orange, dark green, rose, yellow, violet. Silvered tin fasteners. Padded; 5 rows of spring encased in off-white cotton. Together the legend perhaps reads something like “separate charms joined together” or “I secure each charm” [ie leg]? The fastener does not match the other one exactly, but the attributes of materials, craftsmanship and style in number 93.111.2 are too similar to explain these as anything but a reunited pair - like the pair 90.142 + 93.111.1
